About Lucy

Lucy Williamson (b. 1996) is a multidisciplinary  artist from Charleston, SC. An astrophysicist by trade, her work is influenced by the dichotomy of the self: the push and pull between scientist and artist.

 

Lucy finds inspiration in celestial phenomena and the continuous motion of the universe. Her work employs lush and flowing color, often juxtaposing atmospheric strokes with stark and vivid hues. Dream-like scapes of color unfold on the canvas in radiant abstraction. The viewer is invited to question what draws their eye first, and what is ever present underneath. 

 

Her current series “impressions of space” is comprised of flowing acrylics, oil sticks, mica powder, and raw cotton canvas.
